Case-Mate Phantom Black Signature Leather Shell Case for Blackberry 8700
The Case-Mate Phantom Black Signature case is a classic leather case, that combines the best of design in safety and style.
The Look: The Case-Mate Phantom’s exterior is matt black leather. The beveled edges match that of the Blackberry 8700. The lining is a red satin like fabric. The Case-Mate logo is tastefully on the back of the device. The look is classic, sleek, but not overly modern.
Security of the Device: My 8700 took a bit of maneuvering at first to get it in the case, but once in the device nearly snapped around it securing a tight fit. The exterior of the case is a hearty reinforced leather, which provides great protection from the falls and bumps that my 8700 is bound to take. My favorite feature of this case is the solid bottom, protecting the 8700 bottom corners and base. Many cases have cut out at the corners, leaving your Blackberry vulnerable to breaking at the corner when it inevitably slips from your hands, but the Case-Mate Phantom is fully protected along the base and sides. The case also extends slightly above the top corners leaving them exposed for functionality but providing extra protection incase of a fall.
Functionality of the Phone: The keyboard and screen are fully visible and unobstructed. All side ports and keys are available and a mesh covering on the back allows for speaker phone use while the phone is in the case. There is even a clear space where the power indicator light is.
The Belt-Clip: The belt clip system is completely removable, the back knob can be unscrewed and the case lays flat. Or you can attach the provided back knob and use the belt clip system. The clip is strong and secure. When the holster knob is slid into the belt clip it locks securely but is a little difficult to remove once it is locked in, I definitely needed to use both my hand to remove the holster from the clip.
Perks: Unlike other cases the Phantom comes with a removable screen guard, and cleaning cloth.
